Joel Prieto makes his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival singing the role of Count Belfiore in a new production of Mozart’s rarely-heard comedy, La finta giardiniera, directed by Frederic Wake-Walker (also making his company debut). This is the first time Glyndebourne will present the opera, which will also be recorded for future distribution. Mr. Prieto received glowing reviews for his previous portrayal of the Count at the Staatskapelle Berlin, “The cast was excellent . . . Joel is joined by an incredible ensemble, including Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke as Don Anchise, Christiane Karg as Sandrina, Joélle Harvey as Serpetta, and Glyndebounre’s new Music Director Robin Ticciati leads the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Performances take place beginning Saturday, June 28 and run through Thursday, August 21.
