“He (Erwin Schrott) was applauded with enthusiasm. The same thing happened to the big revelation of the Salzburg Festival. We talk about Joel Prieto and his excellent presentations in the role of Don Ottavio. It didn’t scare him to debut in Mozart’s birth city. Neither the comparison with Alfredo Kraus. We can not miss the merits with whom Prieto has claimed his place. He was unknown until the vocal competition sponsored by Placido Domingo (Operalia). He won in 2008 and, since then, has climbed up in the repertoire of Mozartian territory.

Everything in front for the young Spanish Joel Prieto with his silky easy tenor voice as Ottavio.

“Joel Prieto as Don Ottavio covered for a sick Joseph Kaiser with admirable constancy and growing vocal confidence.”
